It will be one the most challenging assignment for Mr Rajen H Khwaja
IAS, AP, 1976, who has been brought up at the helm of affairs in the
Ministry of Tourism as Secretary.
Khwaja who is presently serving as Special Secretary, Ministry of
Environment & Forest will replace Sujit Banerjee IAS, UP, 1972 as the
next Secretary Ministry of Tourism. Bannerjee is superannuating on
31st July, 2010.
The new Tourism secretary will have a crucial role as the nation is
gearing up for the Commonwealth Games during which the tourist inflow
in the country is expected to increase manifold. Also the government
wants to step up its tourism related activities after the CWG ends and
as such Mr Khwaja will have a lot of heavy responsibilities, many such
situations he had handled with aplomb in the past.
